There are many shades of white that will look great in a kitchen. While cool white painted kitchen cabinets are the most popular choice when having cabinets redone, a soft, country feel of antique white cabinets with brown glaze is a close second. Nothing says warm country comfort than an inviting kitchen with beautiful cabinets that appear as if they have stood the test of time showing wear from many years of preparing loving meals.
This client chose antique white cabinets with brown glaze (actually a walnut glaze) to create a country kitchen with a big kick of style. There are some surprises in this one, first, she added some black glazed cabinets that provides good contrast, and added some great details like bead board end caps and feet that give the feel of furniture. Adding the small details to the cabinets gave them a custom professional decorator look for a relatively small investment. The picture to the right shows the “glue on” scroll work that looks amazing with the finish and glaze. Crown molding added to the ridge line of the top makes the dated cabinets look like brand new.
